An indoor backup and a public overflow need different next steps
Record the affected fixtures and whether wastewater appears when another fixture runs. The City of Orlando has a reporting route for sanitary overflows and sewer stoppages. Do not assume every backup is a public-system fault or that a postal Orlando address is within city jurisdiction. Stop using overflowing fixtures, keep people away from sewage and describe any cleaner already used.
Rain coinciding with a backup is useful evidence
Tell the assessor whether the backup followed rain, fixture use or neither. The City of Orlando provides a route for reporting sewer-system concerns; confirm the sewer provider for the address. A timing pattern alone does not locate a fault. Record which drains are affected and ask what flow testing or inspection will establish before agreeing to further work.
One slow fixture or several affected drains?
Record the affected sinks, showers and toilets. Tell the assessor if a washing-machine discharge or upstairs fixture causes water to appear elsewhere. Different patterns call for different investigations; a single symptom does not prove the location or material of a blockage.
Before calling, distinguish one-fixture symptoms from a shared drainage problem and describe what you observed.
Questions to ask about clogged drains & plumbing backups
- What evidence identifies the cause and proposed repair location?
- Which business and individual will perform the work, and how can I verify the applicable Florida license?
- What investigation charge, parts, permits, testing and restoration exclusions are included?
Does the quote include everything?
Ask about assessment charges, the proposed remedy, parts, testing and work excluded from the scope. Availability and charges depend on the answering business and actual property. Compare the supplied scopes and exclusions before choosing.
Read when clearing and inspection answer different drainage questions before approving additional work.
